<p>Bishop Mike Driscoll will be in McCall for Confirmation Monday May 21 at 7:00 PM.  Reception to follow.  Please plan to attend.  Three students<strong>, Max Knudson, Alix Stanley, and Audrey Hatfield </strong>as well as their youth leader Beth Rainford have worked all year in preparation for this night.  Let&#8217;s show our support by filling the church!</p>
<p> First Communion will take place at the 9:00 AM mass on Sunday May 20, 2012.</p>
<p> Our Religious Ed program is almost at an end for this school year.  We have met weekly since last fall with an average of 25 students attending each week.  Our last class of the year will be on Wednesday May 16, 2012.  Don&#8217;t miss this one; it is bound to be fun!</p>

<p>The <span style="text-decoration: underline;">purpose of</span> the parish pastoral council will investigate pastoral matters, to consider them thoroughly, and to propose practical conclusions about them. The council’s task is, first of all, to study those matters brought to its attention and shed light on them.  Its second task is to reflect on them thoroughly, to discern their true nature, to evaluate and to ponder them.  Its final task is to draw sound conclusions.  The council presents these conclusions to the pastor/parish leader in the form of recommendations.  This threefold task of the council-investigating, considering, and recommending conclusions-is called pastoral planning.  After the pastor/parish leader has accepted the recommendations of the council, he directs their implementation.  Council members may assist him, but strictly speaking, implementation is the responsibility of the pastor/parish leader, not the council.</p>
<p> <strong><em>Scope</em></strong></p>
<p>The scope of the council is pastoral matters.  These may include Apart from faith, orthodoxy, moral principles or laws of the universal Church, the council functions  to compliment the Pastor’s influence and lend assistance in those areas in which the Lay Faithful have direct contact within the world/community more so than the Pastor.</p>

<p>Pastoral council members are practicing Catholics, who reflect the parish’s varied communities, and are willing to make the time commitment</p>

<p> The children who will be receiving their First Holy Communion on May 20<sup>th</sup> experienced First Reconciliation this past Wednesday.  They were joined by many of our older youth who also participated in the Sacrament.  The children of the religious education program would like to thank Fr. John for this experience.</p>
<p> <strong>Feast of Divine Mercy – </strong>Next weekend we will join the universal church in celebrating the Feast of Divine Mercy.  Fr. John will lead us in the Chaplet of Divine Mercy following Mass.  If you would like to familiarize yourself with this devotion before next weekend you will find lots of information online.</p>

<p><strong> </strong><strong>MANY THANKS: </strong> As any of you who attended the Lenten and Holy Week services here at Our Lady of the Lake can attest, it was obvious that many people spent many hours in preparation.  A heartfelt thanks, first of all, to  Fr. John for your dedicated leadership and your deep desire to help us all grow in our faith life.   To the musicians, your many hours of rehearsal were evident and the result much appreciated. Thank you to the people who worked on the environment, especially the Hatfield and Hattrup families, and Roberta Hinson, thank you for sharing your gifts with us by surrounding us with beauty to enhance our experience.  Thank you to the many ministers who greeted us at the door and served us at the altar.  Thank you to Kris Main for keeping the church sparkling clean.</p>
<p>St. Jerome’s and St. Katharine Drexel churches also were able to hold special services this Lent and Holy Week.  Many hours of dedication have been obvious there as well.  They would like to thank Fr. John for his willingness to serve them.</p>

<p><strong>     </strong><strong>Idaho Catholic Appeal:  All three communities have reached their ICA Goal!!!!!!  Thank you all so much for your generosity.</strong></p>
<p> <strong>April is our month</strong> to help operate the HH&amp;RC (McCall Food Bank).  If you would like to help, please see the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board at the main entry to the church.  <strong>Hunger never takes a holiday</strong>.  In 2011 the food bank served an average of 646 people per month in an average of 103 households, or in total:  7750 people in 1236 households!</p>
<p> <strong>Interim Parish Council</strong> meeting will be held Tuesday, April 10<sup>th</sup> following the 6:00 PM Mass (approx 6:30 PM)</p>
<p> <strong>Religious Education update:  </strong>Kids, the Operation Rice Bowl project collection is nearing completion.  Please bring your collection to religious ed by April 11<sup>th</sup>.</p>

<p><strong>Calling all Cooks!</strong> St. Katharine Drexel Community is in the process of compiling recipes for a cookbook fund raiser. All recipes must be submitted by May 1<sup>st</sup> to Bette Joe Clapp  PO Box 311 Cascade, ID  83611 or by email  <a href="mailto:jlclapp@frontiernet.net">jlclapp@frontiernet.net</a>.  Be sure to include your name and the servings with the recipe.</p>
<p> While Spring Cleaning: St. Katharine Drexel church is collecting</p>
<p>aluminum cans,</p>
<p>old license plates,</p>
<p>old phone books and</p>
<p>magazines for cash to help us in our financial issues.  If you have any quality donated items for resale on Craig’s List and eBay we would appreciate your donation.  For those items please contact Mary Heinrichs @ 315-2799 and leave a message or email her @ <a href="mailto:xfox24@gmail.com">xfox24@gmail.com</a> for further instructions.  Due to lack of storage space please do not deliver items to the church.</p>
